What’s Happening at CHEC English Language Centre

The CHEC English Language Centre has reached a landmark in its business with its tenth anniversary. The Centre, which was the vision of the former CHEC Executive Director, Mr Warren Grimshaw, began enrolling students in 1996 when the Coffs Harbour Education Campus was only one year old.

Over the last ten years the Centre has prided itself in offering:

  • a warm, welcoming and safe place to learn English
  • the highest quality accredited courses which are continually being updated
  • professionally trained and friendly teachers
  • a fully supervised Homestay Program of 300 local families offering country hospitality
  • International Welfare Officers to look after all the students’ needs
  • an Activity Program of sports, leisure and recreational activities /li>
  • welcoming friendly Office Staff
  • learning facilities on a campus equal to any majority educational institution

The Centre recently celebrated its anniversary with a Staff Barbecue and a Homestay and Students Morning Tea. Mr Warren Grimshaw congratulated the staff of the Centre on their commitment to the business. He also commended the Centre on surviving through the tough times of the Asian Economic Crisis, SARS and the downturn caused by Australia’s high Aussie dollar. He also commented on the far reaching and positive influence the CHEC English Language Centre has had on the local community.

The current CHEC Executive Director and Chair of the Board of Management, Mr Bob Prater, thanked the staff for the sense of community the Centre brought to Coffs Harbour. He also congratulated the staff on their professionalism and quality of service that was offered to our students.
